Artist Statement

My art is an expression of my spiritual journey. I paint to express how I internalize both nature and inner space. The abstract qualities of my paintings originate from an internal reference, that is, my spirit. I find beauty in both the human form and organic natural form, and draw upon this to inspire my paintings. I hope the abstract quality will evoke the viewer’s own connectedness with the universe’s energy, and in a personal way, feed the viewer’s own spiritual journey.

About Carol Bertrand

Carol started painting in 2002 upon retiring from a long set of careers including occupational therapist tour organizer, entepreneur and spiritual director. She has a B.S. in occupational therapy and a M.A. and D.Min. in ministry.

In December of 2003, Carol’s home and studio were completely demolished by a fire. The personal journey through this painful time of rebuilding her home, her life, and art made her paintings more intense and filled with the spiritual energy that makes her paintings powerful.
